Matcha

Matcha green is a fine ground powder made from finely ground, powdered Japanese green tea leaves and specially processed in Japan. The tea is typically consumed in East Asia, where it is served as an everyday tea with a strong punch of flavor. The tea plants used in matcha are usually shade-grown for up to three months prior to harvesting; leaves and the veins are completely removed during processing.

The powder is made in the traditional manner which involves steaming the tea leaves until they are lightly brown and the color is deep green. After the powder has been created, it undergoes a process called "Komain", which involves passing through a sieve or mesh to extract the gold and silver ions from the leaves. After the silver and gold ions have been removed, the powder is further processed by being allowed to cool and then making it a paste-like substance which can then be further processed as per individual requirements.
